Introduction to streamer fishing. In Britain, unlike the US and most of Europe, streamer fishing is considered more a still-water technique and is less commonly employed on rivers. March, with the big San flows, provides a period to radically alter the fly fisher's perspective of the possibilities with early season trout fishing! Stripping through the depths with appropriate streamer patterns provides a fulfilling and very exciting means of extending fly fishing skills. Six/Seven weight rods of nine and a half or ten feet length, with stealth or sink-tip lines, are required. Neoprene chest waders or thermal under clothing beneath breathable waders (preferable) are advised, with warm clothing throughout (even though March days can be delightfully warm here, the water temperature is low). Be prepared for some deep wading
